Festival "Burgfest"
During the second weekend of September the inhabitants of Tangermünde and their guests from far and wide celebrate a festival called "Burgfest", wich recalls historic events. The festival is a successful mixture of culture, history, and entertainment. There is also a market.
One highlight of the festival, which is famous far beyond the regions borders, is the historic procession - emperor Karl IV and his wife, accompanied by their entourage, ride on horseback through the streets of the town and enter Tangermünde castle.
